This is the first blog on our amazing, and active honeymoon! Why active? Well, we got 20-30 thousand steps in a day and I even did a 5 km run to the hotel for cash because I lost my credit card haha. As you have probably guessed our first stop was Ibiza. How do you say it? Well I asked several people, including locals, and in general… everyone says it differently. So, no matter how you say it, the place is wild!!
We spent a fun filled two and a half days there and had amazing weather, 35 degrees Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) with a nice breeze coming off the Mediterranean Sea. Our plane landed around 5 pm on a Wednesday and we were exhausted. We had booked tickets to Steve Aoki, one of our favourite DJ’s. I should also add that my wife was turning *** DIRTY 30*** on the Friday so I was spoiling her rotten. We checked into our hotel and asked when would be a good time to go to the show. The hotel employee, Alphonso, replied “if you get there by 2 then you will be early enough to avoid the line” … I will use this time to mention that 2 am is when the bars close in Canada. We went for an amazing dinner and then promptly took a nap ahah. We arrived at the club around 1:45 am, we should have slept for 2 more hours. The club was Amnesia Ibiza, it was huge and amazing, with a star-studded line up of DJ’s. The only problem was that Mr. Aoki didn’t come on until 5-530 in the morning!! We were sleepy so didn’t stay for his whole performance, but we were also going to see him 2 more times at Tomorrow Land, so it was no big deal.
The next day/ the same day after a few hours of sleep we hit the beach, walked along a beautiful boardwalk, then grabbed some lunch and a couple of drinks at one of the many restaurants. We were originally planning on staying in but then discovered a club that was more our time frame. Ushuaia Beach club was great! We saw Martin Garrix the first night and then eat, sleep, beach repeat for Armin Van Burin the second night on Leigh’s Birthday. The club was packed and finished by eleven pm, so we still had time to check out some other local bars before our crisp 2 am bedtime.
I will finish this blog with a little toot of my own horn. As mentioned, it was Leigh’s 30th so I as trying to make it as special as possible. She was sang “happy birthday” by numerous people and restaurant staff complete with cake and candles (purchased by a lovely hostess as seemingly nowhere did this sort of thing) not once but twice! She loves to be the center of attention, so I made sure it happened everywhere we went. On Saturday, it was off to Paris to meet our friends for some more fun and adventure.
